Horn Lake, Mississippi Poor Soil Conditions Won't Stop Ultra-Rib |

Summary Ultra-Rib provided new interceptor lines for the district in Horn Lake, Mississippi. Neal Smith Construction began laying the 24" Ultra-Rib pipe in February 1996. The soil conditions were very poor in most areas, which meant the top layer of "Gumbo" mud had to be removed to depths of 10 feet. This benching down enabled the contractor to reach burial depths of 26 feet. The entire section of 24" Ultra-Rib was laid in just under two months. This was the first time Neal Smith Construction had ever used Ultra-Rib, and they liked the light weight and easy field fabrications.
